<p>In response to a complaint, an inquiry was held into the alleged irregular receipt of fees by certain councillors of the Municipal Council of Les Franqueses del Vallès for officiating at civil marriages. These payments will have been charged by councillors who receive remuneration under full-time exclusive contracts with the council and councillors who are paid for part-time dedication. At first, such fees were not provided for or approved by a plenary meeting of the council and, since July 2012, only councillors who receive no remuneration for their partial or full-time dedication to the municipal council have been entitled to charge them.</p>
